Antarctica: Emperor Penguins, Leopard Seals, and Orcas, OH MY!

We have been studying about the beauty and wonder of Antarctica. We have looked at the landscape, the habitat, and we have learned about the animals that live there. We read: “The Emperor’s Egg” by Martin Jenkins. We also saw “March of the Penguins” which is a documentary about Emperor Penguins in Antarctica.

We started by making penguin eggshells out of papier-mâché. Then we mixed flour, cornstarch, water and oil, to make clay. With this we made baby emperor penguins and painted them. We plan on making a diorama, and a mural about the Antarctic!
